  • The "Chimera":
    Deck of Abomination

    Author: Junpei Seiryu [Awakened]

Hey there, I am Junpei Seiryu from ODA, short for Order of the Duelists in Albay.

You may have heard my name already multiple times from Kai-Duelists metagame and decklist reviews, with my deck "Chimera".

Yes, it is confusing since there is an archetype named "Chimera", and the decklist I'm showing is quite far from it, but we'll get into that in a moment.

The term "Chimera" deck came from a pun way back 2023 when i started overwhelming our community with my unconventional but working strategy to reach the top rankings.

I had been quite inactive for about 2 seasons, but I am now back to bring darkness to this realm once more.

By the way, it's a deck composed of multiple archetypes that make a competitive menace that can compete with the current meta hand-to-hand.

  • General Strategy and Win Condition

The main strategy of the deck is to overwhelm the opponent with a non-stop combo with extenders. For example, if archetype A is stopped, archetype B will continue the combo and if it fails, archetype C will continue after. The main point of the strategy is if you can't stop the deck, then prepare for a long hard grind game as it needs multiple interruptions for the deck itself to go down.

The deck is also unpredictable, making it hard for opponents to find the right cards to hit and for opponents to know which cards to side in, as the deck does not die to either both nibiru or shifter and it can survive at least 4 interruptions if piloted well.

  • Breakdown

    Madolche
    - Although a deck that has not seen the meta charts in years, it is a key piece of making the deck successful. Being that all of the Madolche cards are one-card combo starters, its consistency is what makes the deck shine as all it needs is a Madolche starter and the deck has both access to an omni negate and a non-targeting removal of cards. Along with the fact that Madolche is insanely good at recycling cards either themselves or cards from yours or your opponent, it provides support to the deck itself. Madolche also provides multiple bodies on the field, making link plays easier and it provides easy rotation to cards from the extra deck.

    Mekk-knight
    - They provide necessary utility to the deck especially if you are going second. Opponents will have to be wary of their card placement as one wrong move could easily benefit the Mekk knight. Like the Madolche, Mekk knights are also a one-card combo deck that could endlessly rotate the game if left unchecked and provide the decks necessary annoying negate by shutting down the opponents' effects.

    World Legacy
    - Using the Mekk-knights, The deck could easily access any world legacy cards providing further support to the deck. For example World Legacy succession if you revive a Madolche using the card, you could go to the Madolche route and provide more annoying plays. If you search out world legacy secrets, it can provide both control and revival for the Mekk-knights and continue the combo.

    Orcust
    - The dark horse of the deck, although they have restrictions to dark, you can still pilot the deck to great lengths even with the restriction. They are one of the key factors in why the deck is successful. They provide early and late game utility that the deck could abuse as Madolche could easily provide both bodies for Orcust to easily link off or provide an omni negate and removal making it easy for Orcust to sneak away the win.

    Horus
    - Provides the consistency of the deck making it easier for Orcust to make a play while providing bodies on the field making the opponent think twice if they want to remove a card on the field when they are around.

    Snake- Eyes
Like Madolche, they provide the necessary bodies on the field and access to the azamina route providing the omni negate and the necessary interruptions or break boards.

    Adventurer
Provides the opening act of removal forcing opponents to respond, even though the restriction of the cards does not let you activate any normal summoned monster effect. The deck is not bothered at all as it mostly focuses on special summons. It also provides bodies on the field making it easy for link plays

There are some more archetypes I will not state as I want them to continue in the shadows for a little while longer but all you need to know is they boost the deck even further.

  • Philosophy/Competence

The deck needs an extremely good pilot and must have good experience with the archetypes involved to play the deck to successful lengths, keeping in mind to play around the restrictions from Orcust, Adventurer and Madolche.

The pilot also needs to know every single route of the 200 potential combos available with given 5 or 6 hand cards. Knowing which archetype routes to sacrifice for dealing with hand traps and interruptions and which archetype is for the main final act.

But for me, I've played the deck for years and I can say I can proudly say I could play the deck to its maximum capability. The deck is not easy to use, I've said it multiple times, if you want to use a deck, don't use mine, just play some deck like Tenpai.

This deck needs a good pilot with ability to easily adjust to situations, and a fast mind to know what to do and which cards to play.

Furthermore, there are multiple variants to this deck, so long as I can combine those that are alike, I can bring them to its potential.

  • General Advantages

    1. The deck could fight head-to-head with meta decks like Ryzeal and Blue Eyes Primite. It can also lockdown decks from using spells, monster effects and grave access easily.

    2. The deck itself could easily adjust to the current meta and banlist. It is not reliant on just one card.

    3. Someone once stated "You need an interruption for each card in Junpei's hand. That deck extends like no tomorrow"

    4.  The deck itself is hard to predict, it takes multiple attempts for opponents to adjust to the deck.

    5. Expect the unexpected (Like Apalutsa)

Final Thoughts

It's been a while and it feels so good to be back again, in the meantime, I'm waiting for the new Orcust card supports from Quarter Century Trinity Box to come from orders. I'm currently using my Lunalight Confinement (A version of Chimera) while waiting.

Thank you for reading and see you soon in my future contents!
